Spider feels very confused. The death of her Nan has filled her with a deep anguish and her mother is incapable of understanding how she feels. So when she meets Ricky, who seems to have the sensitivity to understand her needs, it’s not surprising that she finds herself totally hooked. Spider is only too willing to accept Ricky’s causes as her own, and join him in his crusade against vivisection. But it seems that Ricky’s idea of crusading encompasses more than just leafleting and protesting, and it only takes one venture into the world of active sabotage to make Spider realize she may be in deeper than she ever really intended…
