I do like September.
Here in my part of the UK, the sunlight becomes golden and it slants across the sky, throwing long shadows. And early in the morning, the grass is wet and cool and the sky is bright, and those great big fluffy white clouds go sailing past like galleons under full sail. It always reminds me of holidays when I was a kid. We’d go every year to a place on the coast called Camber Sands, and we’d stay in a wooden three-roomed chalet. There was a very long garden, with a wooden gate at the back. And if you went through the gate you’d have sand underfoot and it would only be a short walk up and over the dunes to get to the beach. And when the tide was out, the beach was 400 yards deep - and golden sand all the way. Oh, and the chalet where we stayed was called Veraglad - anyone recognise the name???
Arya, who set up the Fan Forum and Fan Club site, is running a poetry competition. You’ll find out all about it if you go to http://mysticrealms.co.nr/ . There are prizes - a signed book of mine, for one, so do check it out if you’d like to try your luck at being a poet, even if you don’t know it. Sorry, I didn’t mean to write in rhyme, but I find it happens all the time. There you go again, you see - I don’t know what is wrong with me. I’ll start another paragraph, before you all begin to laugh, because my face is blue and orange..there! That’s stopped it - nothing rhymes with orange!
Quite a few of you have been asking whether The Charmed Return will be the final book in the Faerie Path series. Well, at the moment, it does look like it will be. I do have more ideas for Tania and Co but the publishers right now think 6 books is enough. If you’d like to see a 7th, 8th or 9th book, then probably the best way to make it happen is not to ask me - but to go directly to the publishers and demand more Faerie Path books! I think that if enough of you make contact with Harper Collins, you might make a difference…who knows? It might be worth a try.
and now I come to the riddles that I posed as a teaser for The Charmed Return. Well, as I said right at the start, I’m not about to give the whole plot away - but there have been a lot of really smart guesses - I’m very impressed. Liz and Victoria in particular have got a lot of things right, but a few wrong - you’ll just have to decide for yourselves which is which. The only other clue I could give you now…hmmm…let me think. Well, the first 7 people in the Power of Seven were the Princesses - but the second bunch of 7 people in the new Power of Seven are not Tania’s sisters - they’re closer to her than that. As for the rest - well, sorry, but I think you may have to be patient with that!
Warrior Princess book 3 is out in a few weeks - October 26th to be precise. I’m planning on posting some sneak-peek stuff here very soon, so keep your eyes out for that.
And finally? Well, I have mentioned this before, but I’m going to be on an American-based radio show in November - and its a show where people can call in to ask questions or just say hi! In a few weeks, I’ll give you the details of how to listen to this show and how to call them and speak with me. I hope some of you will want to do that.
I think that’s about all the news for now. Happy September!
OH! are the second seven seven past lives of Tania? and accually door henge(sorry if i spelled that wrong) rhyms with orange
AFJ. Liz - You’re very very close - and yes, you’re correct - door hinge does rhyme with orange - but it does kind of limit the poetry a little. Like - how do I get the juice from my orange? I squeeze it in a near-by door hinge. yes, that works. Anyone got any other ideas?
Ooooooo! good idea liz! (about the 7 past lives thing, even though the orange thing is clever too ) the pub is in the mortal world and her past lives were too. And part of the link said, “The pub below is also said to be haunted by the ghost of Mother Red Cap, with several staff members, AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC” so im guessing that maybe instead of Zara being found at the pub, maybe it’s her 6 (not counting Tania) past lives that she found there. (?) Because it says other members of the public.
the second power of seven is Tania’s past lives!
Do you have any way for us to contact Harper Collins to ask them about more Faerie Path books?
thanks Victoria for both and i like they rhyme Mr. Jones! although i dont like the only close part grrrrr
AFJ. Liz - sorry to make you go grrr - the only thing wrong with your analysis of the 2nd Power of Seven is that only 6 of them are past lives.
Sarah - if anyone wants to contact Harper Collins, the Publishers, the address I have is:
HarperCollins Children’s Books
10 East 53rd Street
New York, New York 10022.
That’s great.
Thank you.
I think I might actually write a letter.
I really do enjoy the books.
They’re very well written and interesting.
Well would it be a good idea to write a letter, and then get as many signatures or names as possible and send it to them asking for another few faerie path books? Kind of like a petition. Anyone interested?
i think thats a good idea!
Good idea.
I would sign the petition.
thanks! when we do finish it, r we going to email it to them or send an actual letter in the mail?
It would probably be easier to email it, but it would seem less authentic in my opinion.
And this is a random question, but do you know who the girl on the cover of the books is?
AFJ. Sarah - I’m afraid I don’t know who the cover girl is - I tried to find out but the Publishers have lost her name!
Sarah I was woundering that same question myself.
On another note I wrote a what I call snail mail letter to Harper in New york and I want to pick you brain for what you think of it(that is if you dont mind). Here it is;
This letter sends its greetings from Ontario, Canada in the quest to inform you of the love of the Faerie Path series written by Allan Frewin Jones that I and my friends share. We sincerely hope that you might consider continuing the series past the sixth book, as it would appear that this series has quite a bit more potential and its readers could benefit from the extraordinary imaginative land of faerie. This series encourages readers to use their imaginations which in turn develops their own ideas inspiring them to become writers themselves. It is very possible that one day you might be publishing a writer’s work that began its inspiration from this series. Thank you for brining the series thus far so that many can enjoy and hopefully will be able to look forward to more upcoming releases of the Faerie Path books. sincerely (signature)
I wanted to put emphasis on that the letters are coming from many different countries. What do you think?
I love it! ♥ And i think that it’s VERY well worded and gets the message clearly across. And if it’s alright with you, maybe this could be our petition? Also, how many countries is the faerie path in? USA, Canada, Germany, what other countries?
AFJ. If anyone does feel like writing a letter, remember not to put my name on the envelope - because if you do they’ll just get forwarded to me, which won’t help. The Faerie Path series is officially published in America and Germany only - but I get letters from countries such as Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Austria, Serbia, the Philippines and others that I can’t remember off hand - so the books are getting around! I think these days that any country that has access to the Internet, and where people can read English (or German) is open to fans importing the books from online booksellers.
Thats so exciting that they have reach so many places and thanks Victoria I just wanted to make sure it didn’t stray of the path of what was needed, and sound like a total dork. lol.
i love the letter laura! i deffinatly dont think you sound like a dork!
Thanks Liz
nope, i think it was perfect!
how many books will there be in the Warrior Princess series? will book 4 be the last one?
AFJ. Rebecca - at the moment I only have plans for four books in the Warrior Princess series - it was always intended to have one book for each of the Shining Ones. That’s not to say I would never consider writing more - I think that would depend on how many people out there would like to read more about Branwen and her friends.
I love both series but cant help but notice no one commented on warrior princess
well i cant wait till the next books come out : D
AFJ. Cindy - I’m really pleased you’re enjoying both The Faerie Path and Warrior Princess. You’re right - people here do talk about The Faerie Path a lot more, but I do get plenty of mail from the Contact page about Warrior Princess, and everyone seems to be really enjoying the books. Maybe it’s just that there are 5 Faerie Path books out there and only two Warrior Princess books so far.
I love the Warrior Princess books too! I cannot wait until the third one comes out. Unfortunately I can’t read it until Christmas break, because I have to read so much in university, but I recommend the series to everyone I know.
Yeah i mostly love the story because of branwen. Shes a strong female character that can fight herself and doesnt need a man fighting for her
ohhhhh cant wait till the next book!!!!!!
Quite right! It seems to me it is very good idea. Completely with you I will agree.
Greetings from the Speedy DNS
when in november will the sneak peak chapter be out?
AFJ/ Shannon - not quite sure what you mean - the sneak-peek chapter of which book? I do plan on some sneak peeks of The Charmed Return about the middle of December, and probably more early in January.
OMG! Mr.jones I love The Faerie Path series, but I do have a question will Edric and Tania get married?
AFJ. T.K.B. - that question is answered in The Charmed Return.
Perfect that question has been eating me alive since Edric propose to Tania.
